Inelastic scattering rates in d-wave superconductors

چکیده
The inelastic scattering rates of quasiparticles in a two-dimensional d-wave superconductor, which arise from interactions with either acoustic phonons or other quasiparticles, are calculated within second order perturbation theory. We discover a strong enhancement of scattering with collinear momenta, brought about by the special kinematics of the two-dimensional fermions with Dirac-like spectrum near the nodes of the d-wave order parameter. In the case of a local instantaneous interpartiele potential we find that either an RPA-type resummation of the perturbation series or an inclusion of non-linear corrections to the Dirac spectrum is called for in order to obtain a finite scattering rate in the limit co/T -+ 0. In either way, we find drastic changes in the scattering rate, as compared to the naively expected cubic temperature dependence.

Relaxation and Thermal Conductivity of Hot and Thermal Quasiparticles and Fermi Liquid Interactions in d-wave Superconductors
In this paper, we calculate theoretically the relaxation rates of hot, thermal and antinodal quasiparticles by using Fermi’s golden rule. The transition probabilities at low temperatures express in terms of Bogoliubov coefficients, singlet and triplet scattering amplitudes and dimensionless Landau parameters. The values of Landau parameters may be determined by comparison with the experimental ...

We study the temperature dependence of the Josephson critical current for diierent symmetries of the superconducting state. We generalize Zaitsev's model for a smooth interface to include diiuse scattering of quasiparticles at the boundary. For d-wave symmetry, we nd strong deviations from the Ambegaokar-Baratoo (AB) formula for SIS junctions. Similar results are obtained for s-wave superconduc...
متن کاملTheory of Electronic Raman Scattering in Disordered d−wave Superconductors
A theory for the effect of impurity scattering on electronic Raman scattering in unconventional superconductors is presented. The impurity dependence of the the spectra can be used to to distinguish between conventional (anisotropic s−wave) or unconventional (d-wave) energy gaps, and excellent agreement with the data on three cuprate superconductors is shown for dx2−y2 pairing. The full frequen...

In this paper, a dc Josephson junction between two singlet superconductors (d-wave and s-wave) with arbitrary reflection coefficient has been investigated theoretically. For the case of high Tc superconductors, the c-axes are parallel to an interface with finite transparency and their ab-planes have a mis-orientation. The physics of potential barrier will be demonstrated by a transparency coeff...

We develop a simple theory of the electromagnetic response of a d-wave supercon-ductor in the presence of potential scatterers of arbitrary s-wave scattering strength and inelastic scattering by antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations. In the clean London limit, the conductivity of such a system may be expressed in " Drude " form, in terms of a frequency-averaged relaxation time. We compare predict...
